Ushering in the New Year

I will be ushering in the New Year with my family, nothing fancy but surrounded by lots of love. What I'm wearing represents what I'll look like on the inside, underneath the jeans and sweater. This is not the best outfit to wear to a house party surrounded by children squealing in delight as we play video games and eat pizza and Lebanese food (I really want shwarma...hint hint Rosie).

I think I may have the perfect top for this skirt. It took a while (See other option here). Next look is the white tee and jean jacket, I just need to find the jean jacket.

While this year has been filled with lots of wonderful memories and accomplishments there have been some heart breaking losses for many close friends and family. To them I offer my prayers that 2013 brings them peace, love, faith and hope.

Happy New Year and looking forward to 2013. Cheers!

What to Wear When Meeting Jeanne Beker - I Wish

On Tuesday I was invited to view EDIT by Jeanne Beker, now I know that Jeanne was not going to be there (not pretending I wasn't praying she would decide to just show up and we would become fast friends) but I still had to make sure that I looked like we were old friends.

I really had a fun time at the preview and mingled with two amazing sisters and fellow bloggers from ItsMusicFashionLife.com, Carcia & Telly as well as the entire Brill Team. They made up for Jeanne not being there.

It was cold and that's how I felt during all the photos I took on that occasion. For my fellow Torontonians check out Ted Baker in Yorkdale if only for the visuals and cheeky fun plus you will experience some amazing customer service.

Coated Denim - Out on the Town

This weekend my best friend since childhood got married and I was the maid of honour. The wedding was beautiful, check out this video here to see what I mean (I'm the one doing all the hard work, zipping up the dress, fluffing the dress, drinking champagne etc.). The day before the wedding Christina and Brad had a meet and great for friends and family. It was located at a bar in Caesar's Casino in Windsor. I knew exactly what I was wearing...my coated denim jeans.

I had tried so many pairs of coated jeans at various price points and ended up purchasing Yoga Jeans version. They were just perfect for me. These are my new go to jeans when I'm heading out for a night on the town (which translates to dinner and drinks and home by 10 pm. I live a crazy life).

It was snowing while I was taking these pictures.

Perfect sheen on these jeans. Not heavily "coated" so won't stick to your skin or trap in the heat. That's one of the complaints I've heard about other brands and their coated denim.

This outfit looks effortless. It is so easy and simple to re-create.

Jeans - Yoga Jeans (find a store or website here)

My giveaway is still happening. All you need to do is "Like" Yoga Jeans on Facebook and comment on this post. If you win you can choose any jeans you want. Giveaway is open internationally. Good Luck!

My First Giveaway - YOGA JEANS

If you've been reading my blog you know that my latest (and honestly greatest) denim obsession has to be with Yoga Jeans by Second Denim Co. Why you may ask? Well the cut, stretch, rise and length are perfect. Those really should be the 4 FD's (fit descriptors) of denim. They hit all four of my fit descriptors so they are an amazing pair of jeans. Let me explain:
  1. Cut - Skinnies, straight, boot cut, flare and super flare. I don't think they are missing anything
  2. Stretch - You can do yoga in these jeans and then to pick out the kids at school. Finally take these jeans on a date or a night out with your friends. They can stretch and still keep their phenomenal shape.
  3. Rise - I prefer a mid to high rise on my jeans - four kids makes this a must for me - and Yoga jeans offers me that choice. They also offer the low rise for you lucky ladies out there.
  4. Length - They are super long so I can wear them without turning them into a "Tall Girl Capri"

Without further ado, I am so excited to be partnering up with Yoga Jeans and offering the winner of this giveaway a free pair of jeans!! Any jeans, not just the ones I'm wearing, but you could choose these. Thank You Yoga Jeans for providing me with these amazing jeans. They are already in steady rotation.

The colour of the season is Ox Blood, honestly you could call the colour  burgundy and Yoga Jeans has named this colour Merlot, I like Merlot better. Ox  Blood is a common colour for men's shoes, I don't really think I want Ox Blood on my legs.

I styled these jeans for a night out on the town. They are just so fantastic I needed to show them off.

I couldn't decide which back drop to pick so I added both.

These pictures were taken before Sandy hit. I would just like to say that my thoughts and prayers go out to those on the East Coast in the US. I have close family affected by this storm and I know that this is not an easy time for many.

Jeans - Yoga Jeans
Blouse - Judith & Charles (old)
Shoes - Jimmy Choo (old)
Belt - Tory Burch (old)
Clutch - Rebecca Minkoff
Necklace - Banana Republic
Watch - Michael Kors

What do you have to do for this giveaway? "Like" Yoga Jeans on Facebook (they really should have a "I'm in love and obsessed option") and commnt. That's it, really simple. You know how much I love simple. Anyone can enter this giveaway, it's open internationally. Thanks Yoga Jeans! A Canadian company and Canadian made denim.

Fancy Python Pants

My husband does not like my python pants, he can tolerate them much more than a maxi skirt, but not his favourite look. He says they are loud, I say they are fun. My daughter got a pair of python pants as part of her back to school stash (hers are a sand colouring like my leather python skirt), he was not impressed. My husband is a good sport about me posting his fashion likes and dislikes. We all have our things.

These pants are fun for me, I wanted to dress them up and this blazer is the best way to do it. I figured I may as well use my clothing as much as possible, especially if the pieces are classic and easily intermixed.

When I saw these pictures I didn't like the booties with the outfit. I wanted to try something different. It just cut me all wrong. So I ended up disliking the way I styled the outfit. I should have added a pair of coloured heels or flats.

Liking the outfit even less when I see the above and below picture. Plus when you are taking pictures of yourself you miss things like in the picture below. Can you spot what's wrong?

I changed out the blouse and added lots of pearls and put my pointy Choo's on and I felt all better.

I honestly think you could wear this outfit to work and go out for drinks with friends right after. For me I'll just take my kids to a swimming lesson in this outfit. Or maybe a date night, it's been a while.

One more thing, please vote for me! I am trying to be one of the 25 Top Canadian Mom Bloggers. I am under the tab of pending blogs.

Python Leather Skirt - OMG Love it!

So yesterday I was telling you how I'm a fancy dresser and this post is how I would dress if I had a fancy job (or what I'll be wearing to functions that call for business attire with my husband, church or Croatian Folklore Banquets). I'm not saying that leather python skirts are appropriate everywhere but let me tell you I would try and make it a staple! If you're afraid of leather J Crew has a very similar pencil skirt in wool (I think) and it's on sale. When I was at Yorkdale Mall they had lots of them. Maybe the python skirt isn't catching on...

I went very neutral with this look, just felt it would showcase the skirt and you'd see the great pattern and texture. This skirt was featured on Cityline and styled by my favourite stylist Lynn Spence, with a black top. When she told me (okay she was telling everyone in television world but I felt she was speaking directly to me) it was on sale I said SOLD! Apparently they are doing a black version for winter (this is the summer version which I think translates great into fall).

I am totally channeling my inner CEO poses. I'm not comfortable taking pictures of myself and do a lot of the same thing so I'm really posing hard in this post.

One thing about leather skirts, make sure they are snug. Leather stretches and if you buy a skirt or pants that are just right, it will stretch until it's just wrong.

The blouse and skirt are manufactured by Canadian companies - Danier and Judith & Charles. So happy to be featuring Canadian brands.
