Meetings & PR Events - What to Wear?

When I started this blog it was a creative outlet to share what I was wearing with other women. A year later I'm being invited to PR events, attending Fashion Week, working with publications like QMI Agency (Sun Media) and taking meetings with different retailers/fashion lines. So what's a girl to wear? Depends on the event/meeting. I know that this potential client is more casual and tech savvy. Jeans and some bling...plus some leopard. Who doesn't love leopard?

Just love this collared necklace. Adds great visual interest to a very simple blouse or t-shirt.

Here's hoping that "One Chic Mom" lives up to her name.

March Break - Camo Option #1

I first saw Camo jeans at Zara and thought they would be loads of fun to wear, however, height is often NOT my clothing friend. They were far too short on me and I left wishing tall girls had more choice. Fast forward a year later and I found a pair of tall friendly camo pants online at The Gap. Thank you for your Tall section.

Pattern play is still my Achilles' heel so I'm taking it slow. I thought I would play with this pattern and do two posts using these pants as the anchor. March Break is in full swing in my house and next week is Toronto Fashion Week so I'm busy (along with everyone else). So I'm taking it nice and easy. I hope everyone else is enjoying their March Break.

I will be partnering with Sun Media during Toronto Fashion Week. We are still hammering out the schedule. Once I know all the details I'll let you know where I'll be and where you can follow me.

Sunshine

We really need some - weather in Toronto has been erratic at best. So when I saw this beautiful yellow peplum sweater at Banana Republic I just couldn't resist. It reminds me of spring and summer and I'm sure we could all use some sunshine on days like these.

This is the last post featuring my brother-in-law Kevin from Kaptured Memories. I would hire him if he didn't live 4 hours away and if I could pay him in appreciation.

My obsession with peplum continues. When purchasing this sweater I bought a Medium because it was longer in the torso and allowed the peplum to drape nicer and longer.

I can't get enough of the pleating in back. Love the shape it is giving me.

Honeycomb

It is cold, wet and windy. Perfect for blogging pictures outside! Lately I have been loving Banana Republic and The Gap. The colours, styles and fits have just worked for me. I love their on-line stores - lots of on-line exclusives and easy return policy. The Gap could do a course on easy return policy and customer appreciation!

The wind just would not stop blowing - lots of cheesy glamour pics. I couldn't resist!

A Peak into Spring

I LOVE NAUTICAL STRIPES, in case you were wondering. When Fashion Magazine challenged us to style stripes (excluding the typical striped top) I knew I would be wearing this blazer. I think of navy as a neutral and knew this blazer could be easily incorporated into my wardrobe. I wanted to wear some colour and wore this emerald green blouse and topped it off with this white statement necklace.

Mundane Mondays - Yellow Again

I know I'm not the only one who's obsessed with the Olympics...GO CANADA GO...GO CROATIA GO...just a quick shout out before we begin talking about what I'm wearing...oh one more thing before we get to me, what are your opinions on the Team Uniforms? Did Ralph Lauren do well with dressing the Americans? I was not happy about the uniforms being made in China. What about the Canadian Team? I'm not excited about them but they could be worse. Then there's Armani for Italy and Stella McCartney for the Brits. Fashion is now part of the Olympics.

So here we are, Monday and it is time for the simple things in fashion...yellow denim and blue denim button down. Easy and fresh like lemonade.

When I styled this outfit it brought me back to high school. Button downs and the preppy look were a big trend and Polo was the brand to wear. I still remember seeing Renata K. wearing a white Polo button down (and the little polo man was dark blue) with her jeans and thinking that no one could wear that look better than her. I tried that look in high school but the shirts were too short on my arms!

Some twenty plus years later I'm wearing jeans and button downs and I think I got it. Roll the sleeves. Thanks Renata!

Back to Reality - Blazers & Denim

No more soaring temperatures. Morning was nice and fresh and the afternoon has been beautiful, dressing accordingly.

I purchased a new tripod from Henry's so the pictures I take are/will be better! No more cheap tripod and 3 big toy buckets (the cheap tripod is not tall enough so I had to balance it on the toy buckets, professional is my middle name) outside trying to get a few decent shots. That in combination with the remote control timer has changed my blogging life.

I think this look could work for Casual Fridays at the office, just change the sandals for a nice nude pump or ballet flat.

When you are taking pictures with your two year old you don't catch the fact your bra straps are showing or that bit of stray hair...I need Ana or Rosie!!

Ann Taylor Skirt - Heat Wave is Over

So yesterday was supposed to be the last day of the May heat wave that hit southern Ontario. So (I think) this may be my last "heat wave" post. As Ann Taylor is coming to Toronto I decided to celebrate by showcasing my new skirt from there.

Like I stated yesterday I prefer to wear skirts or dresses when the summer weather hits. I couldn't resist a striped skirt, plus it has orange trim which does showcase the hottest colour of the season without overwhelming me. The length works for me as well.

It's hard to find good white t-shirts, trust me I've been looking. I don't want to spend a $100 because I have four children and I just don't want to spend $100. So I was extremely happy when I found this one at Banana Republic, plus it was on "promotion". I thought it was on sale but the sales woman corrected me and told me that it was on promotion.

The tee is a thick cotton and has some stretch in it. I will just have to see how it washes.

Thank you Costco for my new watch...no more left.

For my big busted friends this v-neck is flattering, it lengthens your neck and highlights the girls . Crew neck tees tend to cover them up without doing anything else, and I find that adds weight were it doesn't exist.

Heat Wave - Banana Republic Shorts

Its been hot in Toronto - I am wondering what happened to spring? I'm not the only one, the weather has become the top news story for many in Toronto and southwestern Ontario. I'm not complaining (it's supposed to end tomorrow) just enjoying the little gift we've been given.

This summer I'm going to try and enjoy wearing shorts. I don't know about you but I haven't enjoyed wearing shorts for a long time. I'm usually wearing Lululemon capri's when I'm with my kids or skirts and dresses. Shorts look so cute this year (and last year too) so I've decided I'm joining the fold. This last week has given me the opportunity to test out the trend. I like it...but am still not sure how many pairs I'll be purchasing.
